Could anyone recommend me on the best stores to buy washing machines and other appliances at?
I already know the regular stores like Sears, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, etc....
Looking for good ones that maybe aren't as common.
Thanks.

Futureshop sells appliances too. As for washing machince the sell samsung, roper, daewoo, frigidaire and LG brands. Most people think of futureshop as a audio/video/computer store, but they sell more.

We have a Frigidaire front loading washer and dryer set. Probably not the brand most would buy but it works well for us. Had it for 5 years so far and still happy with it.

I'm looking for a top loading washer.
Have a top loading LG washer which is awesome but it seems they don't make that model anymore and the closest one they have right now is much smaller.
I think the Whirlpool 6700 would be a good choice but question is where is the best place to get it.

We went with Sears when we got our washer (that was 3 years ago). Ended up going with the front load type and highly recommend it :)

You can get pedestals to put them on to make them higher!;)

I can also build my own machine :D
Almost the same thing :P
I find it funny that almost all the companies are actually the same one under different name.

What are you looking to spend? Any Specific color? If you haven't checked here yet (http://www.thebrick.com/Application/Storefronts/SubCategory.asp?categoryID=D487C5C2-3AF1-4CD8-A7FD-461FC974CC5E&SiteCode=EN&CategoryTracking=BA811E31%2D7F87%2D4696%2D8647%2DD 8CFC549DACB), then that's an option. Also, do you have like a Co-op Electronics or appliance store near you? I now that you can use your dividends for purchases there. (that's only if your a Co-op member though)

Right now I'm leaning towards Whirlpool WTW6700 which i found for $945 at www.appliancewarehousedirect.com
Also, what do you guys thing about Electrolux as a dishwasher? This (http://www.appliancewarehousedirect.com/fully-integrated-dishwasher-with-cycles-stainless-steel-interior-fully-integrated-control-panel-p-806.html?cPath=4) maybe.
Last thing, what do you think about this (http://www.appliancewarehousedirect.com/slidein-electric-range-with-radiant-element-evencook3-convection-system-stainless-steel-p-2667.html?cPath=1_10_20) oven?
I know i sound abit crazy, but we are moving to a new house in August so mom wants it all :P
Thanks guys.

I would say electrolux are pretty decent for dishwashers. It's just scarey how much all this stuff costs.
Re the oven - looks good. One thing to consider - I cannot see the details from the piccies there, but some have the numbers around the dials simply painted on, while others have a slight indentation, then the paint inside. This may sound like a trivial thing, but over the years, those which are just painted on can easily wear away. Ok, you know the settings of your own appliance, but the numbers may have disappeared and no-one else will be able to work it if you see what I mean :) Those that have the numbers indented would last longer :) Hope that wasn't a bit of a waffle!
I would highly suggest going with BOSCH appliances. We have a Bosch front load washing machine that blows our old Kenmore (Whirlpool) out of the water....It's quieter and holds more laundry and does an excellent job. I would not go back to a top load. This thing uses less than a 1/4 of the water and the clothes come out with less water in them so the dry time is less...SAVES YOU MONEY....As well, we have a Bosch dishwasher that if your not standing right next to it you won't know it's on and it does a very good job. We had a top of the line Maytag that if you ran it at night it would keep you awake. We paid about $1100 for the front load washer and $850 for the dishwasher at Midland in Winnipeg.
Oh yea...Don't forget you get a Hydro rebate on front load washing machines...NICE

Where do i see info about this rebate?
Thanks for all the help guys, right now we have a Bosch dishwasher which works but pretty noisy and not very efficient in the order of things inside.
We also have a top loading LG washing machine which is just awesome, does everything exactly right. I looked at consumer report which i like alot and LG got the best scores for washing machines however they don't go with top loading models anymore, only front.
Thanks for the tip Debbie, ill remember that.

I can't see the numbers on my washing machine anymore either. I pretty much just guess. It sucks...haha. And I am totally going with front loading next time around. Which looks to be fairly soon :(

I just visited Lowe's, and they have a huge selection of appliances. Not the best prices though.
Anyway, it seems the new front loading washing machines are much taller than the old ones, probably less bending over than with a top loading one so i guess I'm sold there.

I do really like my front loading washer, it uses a lot less water and I find it's a lot more gentle on my clothes than the top loading one we used to have. Mine is quite low, but I'll get the stand for it someday to raise it up a bit.

From my research, LG and probably Samsung are the most energy/water/power efficient.
But i assume all new ones are pretty good too so don't have to hang only on that factor.
When you buy a front load washer the sales person will provide you with the form from Hydro...I believe the washer has to be at least purchased in Canada (maybe even Manitoba) as this is a Manitoba Hydro rebate. Manitoba Hydro has all sorts of rebates...I was able to get back $420 after insulating my basement (I originally paid $680 for the insulation so this was a great rebate) and we installed a high efficiency furnace and got a rebate on that too. Check out their web site or give them a call...It really is worth checking out and a couple of friends of ours purchased front load washers on our recommendation and they are very happy with the machines. Most brands are very efficient and reliable. Dig deep into the ratings and tests performed on all of these appliances...I had found some pretty obscure tests performed by university students on the front load washers and I also like consumer reports but they don't cover all the models offered by all the brands out there....I can be quite daunting but when you are spending upwards of $2000 - $3000 on a set of appliances it is worth digging deep. I hope this helps.

Was too bad, we purchased ours before there was a rebate offer for buying the energy efficient washers.

Rebate for Ontario is the PST, so you don't pay 8%.
Just got back from Canada Appliance, they are the best place to get home appliances, best prices, best selection and you get better deals if you buy more than one thing plus if you have a friend who is a builder he can get you an extra 30% discount for you.
Only annoying thing, they don't put prices on most of the models they have there so you need to pick what you want and ask for a quote from them.

National brand sale on now at Sears (http://www.sears.ca/gp/node/n/257483011/?extid=newsletter_may_05_2008_generic_hero_Nationa l_Brand_Sale), might be worth a look.

I came across these guys and if you're in Toronto it looks like they have free shipping if your purchase is over $1799.00. http://www.canadianappliance.ca/
I haven't compared their prices too extensively but they look like they could be cheaper than Sears.

Aw who needs a washing machine? Just do what I do and hang out at the laundry mat. Just wait until someone loads up their machine, goes for a coffee, and then you can pop your clothes right in! Hey may as well save the environment some energy and water by "wash pooling" I always say.
Hopefully they won't notice until after all the clothes are dried, and then you can just go "Hey, how in the world did MY clothes get mixed up with yours? (<- be sure to make one of these faces for effect) Oh well! I guess we just saved some energy! How about that hey?" And if it's a cute woman, you can just go "And HOW you dooin'? :flowers: Would you like to save on some heating bills by being my bed buddy tonight?" ;) ;)
I'm all for energy conservation! (You can probably imagine what I would suggest to help keep the bed warm at night when you turn down the thermostat :o )

Well, we are moving to the new house we bought on 1st of August, and for most appliances we need to actually measure the kitchen to know what will fit in, but i guess we are pretty much closed on washing machine and dishwasher and have a pretty solid idea about the rest.
